Dumpster Diving!

Identify the different sections of Eighner's essay and note the character and purpose of each one.

Think about something you know how to do.  Write a process analysis piece that explains how to do it, why someone would do it, and what lessons can be learned from that activity, รก la Dumpster Diving.  No, it need not be nearly so long.

Due Thursday, May 8 on your blog.

  1. Giddings, Thursday is the 8th. Not the 7th. Just thought you might like to know.

  2. Duly noted. I changed my mind and gave you an extra day and didn't change the date. It's done now to alleviate potential confusion. Merci beaucoup.

  5. If I am doing tennis, how in depth do you want me to go? Do you want me to break it down by stroke or by strategy?

  6. What if you don't know what to write about? What if you don't know how to do anything? =/

  7. Adara, you can go as deep as you'd like, but don't force yourself to write a book. Maybe one or two basic strokes and a tad bit of strategy for them.

    Stacey,
Surely you know how to do something! Make lasagna or cookies. Something...

  8. This is really hard Gidds, I am just so good at everything I can't pick one! hahaha :)

Ok but on the the serious note I really can't pick one. I have no clue what I could write about that would be interesting to read, like dumpster diving...HELP!

  9. Giddings...What do you mean by noting the character on each section? :/

  10. Jessica, I mean note what each section is like, what is it trying to accomplish, what's its purpose in the essay. Does that help?

Ryann, gosh it must be tough to be so awesome...just commit to something. Dumpster Diving is so interesting because it opens a whole new world to most of us that is both fascinating and a little disgusting. Invariably, someone says "let's go Dumpster diving" after we read it. You're young though, and haven't likely done something so exotic as living on the streets (hopefully you'll never have to do that!), so your topic may be a bit more mundane. How about how to win a state championship (I'm sure some of the guys would love to know how to do that :) )...

  12. Hey giddings, when i did mine last night i highlighted and noted on the actual paper itself what he was trying to accomplish with various parts of the essay, is that ok? I was planning on giving it to you this morning but i'm sick :( I'll type out the written part later this morning yo go on the blog but the part that is highlighted and explained on the actual essay, do you just want me to turn it in tomorrow?
