DGP...The Neverending Story

GrammarNaziGo to this grammar website and work through the The Basics of Sentence Diagramming (Part One and Part Two). You might also find the Anatomy of a Sentence to be helpful.

Start using this in conjunction with your DGP packet to master the structure of a sentence. Your next test will be in a couple of weeks.

Go through this tutorial carefully. Many people missed a lot of points because they didn't see the relationships between the sentence parts that the tutorial covered well.

Please Help

I'm piloting Google Sites as the district is thinking of moving to them next year. Check out the new Giddings Google Noodle and let me know what you think (keep in mind it is only under construction).  Thus far, is it as good, not as good, or better than Edublogs? Could you leave a comment on this post letting me know your opinion?  Thank you!

  1. I think the Google blog is good, but I favor this one since I already know it. Since the sophomores and classes after that haven't had edublogs, then it will be simple to them and be their own edublog just with google, so for future classes it doesn't really make a difference. It's good though.

  2. I think Edublogs is a little easier to look at. All the links and important text stand out more than on Google. Google's calendar was nice. I don't think I've ever seen that on Edublogs. I agree with Adriana - the sophomores won't have anything to compare Google with so there isn't really a downside to switching.

  3. I appreciated the Charlie quote concerning Bulldozers. That alone made the Google Blog better.

  4. Yeah. He said that with all seriousness. I don't think Carrie or I have said anything like "Let's do x to pass the time" before so I have no idea where that came from. Completely cracked me up.

  5. I agree. It took me about a year to settle on a theme that I liked and was easy on the eyes.

  6. I like edublogs more, only because I've become familiar with it, so I know where everything is or where to look if I can't find something. It would take me a while to switch to the Google blogs, and would probably cause some confusion, but only because of my familiarity with edublogs and the different formatting. However, I think that if you started with the google blogs next year instead of edublogs, then your class next year would have no problems, since it will be the first thing that they have used, or are at least on the same page as everybody else.

And the bulldozer quote from Charlie made my entire day. :)

  7. I agree with all of the above comments, and that edublogs is just nicer to look at. But if there are different formats that you can use on the google one then I don't see any difference. I also like the calendar on the google one just because I am a planner and seeing how the week is laid out is very helpful.
