Extra Credit?!

Write up an argument analysis with an eye to establishing its foolproof construction or its downfall.  I will give extra credit for a well-done analysis (whoo hoo!).  If you don't want the extra credit, just watch the video for your own interest in his argument. If you do want to try for extra credit, blog your analysis by the end of the week.

  1. Giddings! I have seen this one before. Is there really a flaw in what he is saying? I'm lost about what you are asking, are we supposed to find a flaw in what how he ties things together in the end, or how he sets things up in the beginning? I always thought he was right...

  2. It's due by the end of the week. Sorry, I'll update the post with that.
Emma, I'm just asking you to analyze his argument and write up your analysis. Think about Toulmin, how he (the guy in the video) sets things up and executes his argument, and see if you think there are any holes or if you think it's airtight.

  3. Hey Giddings, are we suppose to agree or disagree with him? Or are we just suppose to talk about the holes we see, if any, or if we think it's a good arguement. Also, can I use the words I, we, our, etc. or no?

  4. The latter (second sentence). You don't need to agree or disagree, just say whether it is good or bad and then break down either what makes it good or what makes it bad. In a nutshell, that is an argument analysis. Oh, and you can use I, we, or our, but definitely not etc. or no ;)
